Obituary for Kevin Caldwell
Kevin Duane Caldwell, 55, of Altus, Oklahoma, was welcomed into heaven on Thursday, August 2nd, 2018. He was born May 20, 1963, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Thomas R. Caldwell, Sr. And Barbara J. (Stanley) Caldwell. In 1973, Tom’s career with the Air Force
brought the Caldwell family to Altus, where he and Barbara raised Tom, Jr., Kevin, Carol, and Kathy. The fact that Altus had a dirt track and an asphalt racetrack was a major bonus for Tom, Tom, Jr. and Kevin, since racing was their passion. Kevin began racing as a young teen. During his racing career, he was track champion at Altus Speedway, Sooner International Raceway and Quartz Mountain Speedway. He attended Altus Public Schools and graduated from high school in May, 1981. Upon graduation, Kevin was in
the Air Force Reserves for a short time. He later owned and operated Caldwell’s 66 and Uhaul on Main Street in Altus, along with his father. In 1994, Kevin moved to Mooresville, North Carolina, to pursue his passion for racing. It was this dedication and talent that led him to work for many different racing teams, which included USAir and Smokin’ Joe’s NASCAR Winston Cup Teams. Wallace; Keystone Light Dodge Intrepid, with driver Steadman Marlin; MBA Motorsports, with driver Hermie Sadler and Venterinni Motorsports. He returned to Altus in 2015 and was a sales associate for Wilmes Ford.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas R. Caldwell, Sr.
Kevin is survived by his mother Barbara J. Caldwell of Altus; daughters, Ashley Caldwell of Mount Pleasant, NC and Tatum Morgan-Burnett and husband Jesse of Bryan, Texas. Brother; Thomas R. Caldwell, Jr. and wife Susan of Paris, Texas. Sisters; Carol J. Buchanan
and husband Joe of Altus, Oklahoma; Kathy J. Holder and husband Mark of Creta, Oklahoma. Grandson; Noah Burnett of Bryan, Texas. Nephews and Nieces; Thomas R.
Caldwell and Taylor Caldwell of Irving, Texas; Lindsey Stehr of Coppell, Texas, Jake Buchanan and fiancé Shelbi Harvick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Joe Colson
Buchanan and girlfriend, Carson King; Haley HolderPannell and husband Brent of Creta, Oklahoma and Harrison J. Holder of Creta, Oklahoma and many aunts,
uncles, cousins, and friends.
A service celebrating Kevin's life will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday Augst 7, 2018 at Martha Road Baptist Church.
Cremation arrangments are under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
