Obituary for LaVelle C. Tinney
Services for LaVelle C. Tinney, life time resident of Altus and Jackson County, have been scheduled for 2:30 pm Sunday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Foreman, Sonny Tims and Rev. Ken Pate, Rev. Noel George. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Mrs Tinney was born December 15, 1909, in Coryell, Texas to James W. and Lille Ezell (Carter) Garren. She moved to Altus as a small child where she lived for the rest of her like. She married Clayton M. Tinney on March 12, 1928 in Duke, Oklahoma. Mrs. Tinney was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Humphreys then transferred in 1949 to Altus, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Flower Club. she was an accomplished seamstress and was very devoted to her family.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Mrs. Tinney' s memory.

Survivors include husband Clayton M. Tinney of the home; children, Robbie Kerr and husband Bob of Altus, Oklahoma sisters , Lorene Hutton of Altus, Oklahoma; Lessie Brown of Salinas, California; four grandchildren , Robert Keith Kerr of Altus, Oklahoma, Robin Wenk and husband Brad of Altus, Oklahoma; Rodger Kerr and wife Tamra of Altus, Oklahoma; and Garren Tinney of Oklahoma; and De De Tinney of Garren of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Preceded in death by parents; one son, Michael Don Tinney, 10 brothers and sisters, one grand daughter-in-law, Jonna B. Kerr.
