Obituary for Lacatherine Watkins Stephens
Lacatherine Watkins Stephens, age 58, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Lacatherine was born on November 19, 1966, in Wellington, Texas, to Robert and Thelma (Armstrong) Ford. She spent her early years in Dallas, Texas, where she earned her General Education Diploma and began a distinguished career in law enforcement. She served faithfully as a Deputy Sheriff for Dallas County, dedicating over twenty years of service before her retirement.
In 2009, Lacatherine moved to Altus, Oklahoma, where she worked in social services at English Village Nursing Home and later in the Therapy Department at Magnolia Creek, assisting patients with insurance and care coordination. During her time in Altus, she met the love of her life, Oneil Stephens. The two shared an instant connection and later married in Wichita Falls, Texas, making their home together in Lawton.
Lacatherine was a woman of grace, compassion, and style. She was known for greeting each day "dressed to the nines," her radiant spirit shining before her first cup of coffee. She loved to travel and enjoyed visiting her favorite places Kansas City, Missouri, and Dallas, Texas. Whether playing bingo, visiting the casino, or spending time with her loved ones, Lacatherine lived life with joy and kindness.
She never met a stranger and was always ready to help anyone in need. Her gentle nature and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Above all, her heart belonged to her family especially her daughter and granddaughter, with whom she shared countless precious moments.
Lacatherine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Thelma Ford.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Oneil Stephens; her daughter, Felicia Theadman; her granddaughter, Kaedynce Theadman; her sisters, Michelle Ray and husband John Ray, Stephanie Ford; and her brothers, Kendal Ford, Timmy Ford, and Robert Ford, Sr.
