Obituary for Laura Bell Ashley
Laura Belle Ashley

Laura Bell Ashley, 94, lifelong resident of Jackson County, passed away January 7, 2009 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Laura was born July 25, 1914, in Olustee, Oklahoma to Oscar Thomas and Leona (Romine) Ketchersid. On December 16, 1949, she married Barney E. Ashley in Hollis, Oklahoma. Mr. Ashley preceded her in death February 5, 1997.
Mrs. Ashley was a devoted member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was the oldest living member. There is only one other member that has been with the church longer than Laura. She was a member of the Senior Saints. Laura loved all kinds of needlecraft including sewing, crochet, and quilting. In past years she enjoyed gardening and canning her produce. But most of all, she adored her family and liked nothing better than spending time with them. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Barney; one son, Richard Foreman; one grandson, Jimmy Foreman; her brother, Clarence Ketchersid; and by two sisters, Ninaruth Walker and Mozelle Raley.
She is lovingly survived by five children, Oscar Foreman and wife Naomi of Altus, Odis Foreman of Olustee, Thomas Foreman and wife, T.J. of Port Orchard, WA, Arzella Rhodes and husband Jerry of Jackson, Tn. And Gay Feazel and husband Larry of Altus; nineteen grandchildren; a multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
