Laura Earlene (Sherrill) Pierce was born to Ralph and Veldima (Green) Sherrill of Vinson, Oklahoma on December 29, 1946 at Hollis, Oklahoma. She passed away in Dallas, Texas on October 13, 2014 at the age of 67.
Earlene grew up on the family farm near Vinson and attended Vinson School until it closed. She graduated from Hollis High School in 1965. Earlene graduated from SWOSU in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1969. She taught school for a few years. She loved to read and work crossword puzzles.
Earlene was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, R. L. and Ralph Winford (Fudd) Sherrill.
Survivors include two sons, Jayson Pierce and wife Connie of Pampa, Texas and Sam Pierce and wife Tari of Washington State; three granddaughters, Emily, Natalie, and Charlotte Pierce; three sisters, Joyce Brown of Levelland, Texas, Melva Thompson of Clinton, Oklahoma, and Patricia West of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Gerald Sherrill and wife Ann of Sayre, Oklahoma and R. W. (Dub) Sherrill and wife Ella of Vinson, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Independence Cemetery in Vinson, Oklahoma with Sherman (Mac) McKaskle officiating. Local services are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Vinson Community Building Fund % Leona Sherrill, 14669 Hwy 30, Vinson, Oklahoma 73571.
