Akers

Col. Lavon Akers of Olustee, passed away at JCMH on June 11,
2007.
He was born August 21, 1935, to Toliver and Leigie (Wilhoughby) Akers. He graduated Olustee High in 1953, later attending Fort Smith , Ark auctioneer school graduating in 1957. He served in the National Guard for nine years and received an honorable discharge. He was an importer and exporter of horses and other livestock for many years. He married Alta Lou (Fletcher) in Montague County.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Jo Ellen and Mike Sanchez of Elk City, Bonita Star Garcia, Evon Akers and Camella Delight Akers: one son, Justus Botts Toliver (Todd) Akers, all of Olustee; nine grandchildren, Micheal and Amber and Robbie Sanchez of Elk City, Jacob and Kristy Krapff of Altus, Anthony Lopez of Cache, JR. (Poncho), Bobby Ray (Sisco),
Fera (Dizzy Pony) and Chantilly Star Garcia of Olustee; and greatgrandchild
Haliee Starr Sanchez.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, one sister, Delight Stroud in 1992: and one son-in-law, Ramiro Garcia Jr. in 2004.
He was known as Pa-Pa to many and John Wayne to others. He will be greatly missed. Arrangments are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
