Obituary for Lazel Fisher Sr.

Lazel Fisher Sr., of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on March 27, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him.

Born on September 30, 1950, in Altus, Oklahoma, Lazel Sr. was known as a man who lived life in his own way-unapologetically, boldly, and with a presence that was hard to forget. He attended Altus High School and, throughout his life, became known in his community as a true character. He carried himself with a unique sense of style-often dressed to the nines in Western wear, complete with boots, hat, and a look all his own. Wherever he went, he was recognized, remembered, and rarely overlooked. He had a deep appreciation for ranch life, spending time working with cattle and enjoying the rhythms of the stockyards in places like Fort Worth and Oklahoma City. He loved horses, the land, and the lifestyle that came with it. His creative spirit even extended to naming his ranching endeavors, including the memorable "Knocking Bull Creeping Ghost," a name that reflected his personality-distinct and unforgettable.

He shared a special and lasting bond with his mother-in-law, Mary Lee Brown, lovingly known as "Mother," who welcomed him as one of her own from the very beginning. Their relationship was built on mutual respect, loyalty, and standing firmly by one another through life's challenges. Over the years, that bond only grew stronger, reflecting a deep sense of commitment and connection that remained constant. Today, we take comfort in knowing they are reunited-rejoicing together in Heaven. Above all, he loved his family.

In recent years, he made his home with his son, Lazel "Bubba" Fisher Jr., and his family, where their bond grew even stronger. The connection they shared was one of deep loyalty, love, and companionship. He was a proud father and never missed an opportunity to show up-whether it was a ball game, an event, or simply being present in the moments that mattered most. He was also cherished by his granddaughter, Jazel, and deeply appreciated the care and support of Eleonor, who, along with his son, stood by him faithfully. He was especially proud of his grandchildren's athletic achievements; his grandson, Lazel "Carmile" Fisher-his all-star basketball player-brought him great joy, and his granddaughter Jazel, his little track star, made him proud as he loved hearing about her winning her races. He shared a lifelong bond with Rose Ann Brown, the mother of Bubba, with whom he remained close over the years. Their connection endured through time, and she continued to care for him and be part of his life. Their shared love for their son remained a constant. In his final hours, he called out her name-a reflection of a bond that never faded. A special love was reserved for his dogs, especially his longtime companion Bella, who remained by his side, and his beloved bulldog from years past, Shagnasty.

Lazel is survived by his children, Lazel Fisher Jr. (Eleonor), Mario Robinson, Jazel Bowler, and Kendra Garcia; grandchildren, Lazel Carmile Fisher, King Fisher, and Jazel Fisher; and his siblings, Alice Fisher, Bernice Dejean, Sylvia Fisher, Martha Shelley, Rachel Lindsey, and Alfred Fisher. He is lovingly remembered by a special niece, Candice Elrod, her husband, and their son, Bodie, whom Lazel affectionately nicknamed "Showboat" the day he was born. Lazel also leaves behind many extended family members, lifelong friends, and relationships too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Angie Marie Fisher.

During a recent hospital visit, he spoke of the Lord and expressed his trust in God's will. That moment brought comfort to those who were with him and remains a source of peace in remembering his faith. His life, in its own way, reflected strength, individuality, and a faith that brought comfort in his final days.

A service to honor and remember his life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate a life that left a lasting impression on so many. In true Lazel fashion, bring your smiles-because we all know he would want a celebration.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Lazel's honor to assist with final expenses.
