Lemma Hunter Pate age 66, of Altus, Oklahoma died September 23, 1969 at his home in Altus.
He was born June 24, 1903 in Hillsboro, Texas to W. H. Pate. He married Vannie January, 7, 1922 in Hollis Oklahoma. He came to southwest Oklahoma at the age of six months, living in the Hollis/Duke area before moving to Altus in 1947. He was a barber in the Duke and Altus area for the past 44 years, Altus City Council for the past 3 years, Mayor and city Councilman for 45 years in Duke, Oklahoma; member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners; Chairman of Police Department, Parks and Recreations, committee and I.O. O. F.
Funeral services for Lemma Hunter Pate are scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 1969 at the First Methodist Church, Altus, officiated by Rev. Lonzo Battles and Rev. C. L. Abercrombie. Burial will follow in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
Lemma Hunter Pate is survived by his wife Vinnie of the home; one son Harmon Pate, Altus, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother Al Pate, Duke, Oklahoma; five sisters, Ada Westbrook, Altus, Oklahoma; Audra Duke, Duke, Oklahoma; Lorene Pate, Duke, Oklahoma; Jodie Payne, Duke, Oklahoma; Fammie Mae Pride Long Beach, California
