Obituary for Leon Carrick
Robert Leon Carrick, age 94, longtime resident of Hollis, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020 at Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis.

Leon was born in Gould, Oklahoma on August 21, 1926 to his parents John Addison Carrick and Mary Dave (Little) Carrick. Leon married his high school sweetheart Bessie Jean Trammell on December 23, 1948. He attended Gould schools until the 10th grade and transferred to Ron Schools where he was a proud graduate and he went on to attend college at Weatherford, Oklahoma for one year. Throughout the years Leon helped manage the installment of the cable TV systems in the Hollis area until he went to work for himself as a carpenter and painter. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Hollis and he stayed active teaching Sunday School, Training Union, and served in many committees. Leon was also very active in the Hollis community. He was a retired volunteer fireman, EMT, and he helped clean up and make Hollis a good place to call home. Leon enjoyed playing dominoes and he loved his family very much and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and all of his church family and Leon enjoyed a life well lived.

Preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Carrick; five brothers, M.D., Albert, Floyd, J.A., and G.D. Carrick; two half-brothers, Carlos and Sherman Haught; two sisters, Bonnie Shelby and Thelma Martin. Leon is survived by his wife of over 71 years, Jean Carrick of their home in Hollis; his son Robert Carrick and his wife Sheryie of Durant, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Virginia Carrick of Norman, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Robyn Sanchez and her husband Craig of Altus, Oklahoma; and Jamie Berry and her late husband Brandon of Norman, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Tim, Taylor, Rain, James, and Michelle all of Altus; and Phillip Berry of Norman; great great granddaughters, Evelyn and Krystine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Hollis First Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Alley officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
