Leta Ruth Hall, a cherished and long-time resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on February 22, 2025, at Magnolia Nursing and Rehab in Altus. Born on December 25, 1932, at 6 PM on her family farm near the Saint Joe's community in Texas, Ruth entered the world just after her mother had finished preparing Christmas dinner-a fitting beginning for a life that would be defined by warmth, love, and devotion.
From her earliest days, Ruth was raised with a strong foundation of faith, family, and hard work. Growing up in the De Leon, Texas area, she learned the value of perseverance and integrity while working on the family farm. Her unwavering moral compass was nurtured in the church, where she developed a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ that would guide her every step.
Ruth's life took a beautiful turn when she was set up on a blind date with a young man named Weldon Hall. Their first date, spent driving around the town square, sparked a love that would last a lifetime. The two were married on June 11, 1950, in Dublin, Texas, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, adventure, and faith. As Earl served in the United States Air Force, the family moved often, living in Stillwater, Topeka, and eventually returning to Texas before settling in Altus, Oklahoma. There, Ruth and Weldon owned and operated Martin's Ace Hardware, where Ruth worked tirelessly as a secretary, ensuring the store operated at its highest capacity.
Yet, Ruth's true passion was her service to the Lord. Church was the cornerstone of her life, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to its mission. She served as a Sunday School teacher, missionary director, steward, and member of numerous boards and committees. Her faith was not just a part of her life-it was the very essence of who she was. Jesus Christ was her focal point, and she lived each day as a testament to His love and grace.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her role as a homemaker, creating a loving and nurturing environment for her family. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, crafting, and selling Avon. She was the ideal "Mimi," showering her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with unconditional love and wisdom. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents H.L. and Lillian Locke and three sisters: Faye Overstreet, Ann Foster, and Marcelle Rodgers. She is survived by her loving husband of seventy-four years, Weldon Hall; daughter, Vicki Paul; son, Steve Hall, and his wife, Robyn; grandchildren, Kyle Paul and his wife, Sara, Kelli and her husband, Eric Constable, Brad Rowson and his fiancée, Jordan Heath, and Heather Facklam and her husband, Matt, Cynthia McNally and Dalton McNally; and her great-grandchildren, Honor, Charlie, Beth, and Wesley numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
