Levi Gambill, age 83, longtime resident of Mangum, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center.

Levi was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on November 4, 1933 to his parents Oris D. "O.D." Gambill and Alice D. (Kendrix) Gambill. He grew up in Reed, Oklahoma and attended Reed schools. In 1952 Levi was inducted into the United States Navy and he served his country during the Korean War with his primary duty station aboard the USS Hancock Warship. He also served in the United States Navy Reserves and received an honorable discharge in 1960. Levi fell in love with June Smith who he always adored and they were married on June 12, 1958 in Carter, Oklahoma and they have enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage together. After his time in the Navy he went to barber school in Oklahoma City and was a barber in Altus for seven years where several of his siblings followed in his footsteps. He later went to meat cutters school in Ohio and was a meat cutter for the Safeway stores for many years. Levi and family lived in Orange County California until 1991 until he retired and they moved to Mangum where he has resided ever since. Levi enjoyed growing a large garden and would give away his produce to anyone that he could, he was even known for leaving produce on the steps of many people"s homes. He also enjoyed growing large flowers. Levi leaves behind a legacy of love for his wife, children, grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, and he will be missed very much.

Preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Daniel Gambill; son-in-law, Darren Armstrong; his sister, Estelle Weaver; half-sister, Velma Newman; and his half-brother, John Gambill; Levi is survived by his wife June Gambill of the home; three children, Roger Dale Gambill and wife Toni of Lawton; Eric Lane Gambill and wife Jenny of Mangum; and Penny June Armstrong of Colorado; four sisters, Ruth Morris and husband Neal; Lois McDonald and husband Ralph; Doris Kennedy; and Lillian Wilson all of Mangum; two brothers, Carl Ray Gambill and wife Mary of Mangum; and Gordon Gambill and wife Peggy of Altus; seven grandchildren, JoAnna Ramirez and husband Jose; James Moon; Jon Marc Moon and wife Evea; Leticia Nunez and husband Rob; Haley; Teagan Gambill; Lea Armstrong and husband Harris; great grandchildren, Tehya, Connor, Lilly, Joseph, Emerson, and Karson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Mangum. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Mangum with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy.
