Obituary for Linda Ann Barclay


Linda Ann Barclay, a lifelong resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on May 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving children. Born on October 22, 1943, to Willard and Bonnie Johnson in Altus, Oklahoma. Linda's life was a testament to her deep love for her family and her passion for the great outdoors. Linda was raised and educated in Altus, Oklahoma, and graduated from Altus High School in 1961. Fate would strike Linda, while working at the Dairy Mart she met a young Airman by the Name of Bob Barclay. Soon the two fell deep in love and were united unto holy matrimony on June 9, 1961, at Highland Methodist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. Linda's life was intertwined with moments of love and adventure. As an Air Force wife, she stood steadfastly by Bob's side, moving across the country and living in places like California, Hawaii, and Missouri before returning home to Altus in 1979. Linda worked at several jobs throughout her life, she worked at Farm Bureau, the US Cotton Classification Office, and West Side Animal Clinic in Altus, Oklahoma She and Bob worked together as camp hosts at numerous camp sites across the nation. Despite their travels, Linda's heart was always with her family. She cherished every moment spent in nature with her children and grandchildren, finding tranquility and joy in their company. Her love for bargain shopping and antiques was only surpassed by her love for family gatherings, particularly during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Linda's affinity for dogs showcased her compassionate nature, reflecting her deep love for all living beings. Her unwavering devotion to her family knew no bounds, and she would move heaven and earth to ensure their happiness and well-being.
A devoted Christian and long-standing member of Highland Methodist Church, Linda's faith anchored her through life's ups and downs. Those fortunate enough to know her will forever cherish her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Bonnie Johnson, sister, Gaynell Preston, and her beloved husband, Robert ( Bob) Barclay.
Left to honor Linda's memory are her son; Wayne Barclay and wife Jaime of Murdock, Kansas; daughters; Sheila Lara and husband David of Altus, Oklahoma, Bonnie Green and husband John of Murdock Kansas; nine grandchildren; Linda Lara, David Lee Lara, Ryan Day, Jared Day, Megan Green, Caleb Barclay, Joshua Barclay, and Devon Barclay and Brayden Lara; Great Grandchildren; Charles Lara, Virginia Wallace, Maria Ramirez, Kambry Day, Kade Day, step-great-granddaughter Samantha; and two great-grandchildren, Cove and Payton; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive her. Linda Barclay's memory will continue to shine bright, illuminating the hearts of all who loved her.

The Barclay family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2024 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Altus City Cemetery, Altus, Oklahoma.
