Obituary for Linda Lou Burcham
Linda Lou Burcham, 82, long-time resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on October 14, 2020 in Norman, Oklahoma. Linda was born on August 28, 1938 to Virgil Lee and Arnie (Leath) Alsup in Russell, Oklahoma. She attended Centralview schools and graduated in 1956. Linda married the love of her life Billy Joe Burcham on November 22, 1956 in Russell, Oklahoma. Of this marriage, the two were blessed with four children: Joey, Brenda, Glenda, and Jerri.
Linda worked tirelessly as a homemaker, taking care of her family as well as being very active in the community. She was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Mangum and taught Sunday School for numerous years. She also enjoyed being a member of the Greer County Quilters Guild, Extension Homemakers, Greer County Fair Board, and the Emergency 911 Board. Linda was the state President of the Extension Homemakers Council from 1990-1991, and she remained active in the Extension Homemakers club until her health began to fail. Linda enjoyed quilting, cooking and baking. She was known to have the best coconut cream pie and cream corn in Greer County. She had numerous requests for both infamous dishes. Linda loved volunteering with the youth in the area. She was a leader for the 4-H group, as well as a youth leader for her church. Linda had a smile that could light up a room, and a fun personality, she will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Billy Joe Burcham;
Left to honor her memory is her son, Joey and wife Tracie Burcham of Sublette, Kansas, Daughters, Brenda and husband James Wilson of Norman, Oklahoma, Glenda Burcham of Carrolton, Texas, Jerri and husband Jay Mclemore of Holdenville, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Robyn Burcham of Dodge City, Kansas, Weston and wife Andrea Burcham of Kansas City, Kansas, Eddie and Wife Laura Perez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Allison Wilson of Norman, Oklahoma, Jared and Wife Anna Mclemore of Ada, Oklahoma, and Jason McLemore of Holdenville, Oklahoma; Great Grandchildren, Lincoln Perez and Denton Mclemore.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 16, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church in Mangum, Oklahoma, with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Mangum, Oklahoma.
