Lonnie Fabious Passmore, age 86, of Mangum, passed away late Monday evening, November 26, 2012, at Clinton Veteran"s Center, in Clinton.
Mr. Passmore was born at Wildcat, Oklahoma, in Greer County, on August 8, 1926, to Dan and Lula Mae (McGrady) Passmore. After attending Wildcat School, Lonnie began farming with his father and for other farmers in the area. In 1956, Lonnie was drafted into the United States Army and served a tour in Germany at the end of the Korean War. Returning to Mangum, he married the love of his life, Revia June Ferguson, on March 15, 1957, and they spent the next fifty-five wonderful years together before his death. Lonnie remained in the Army Reserve for a time and was called back to active duty during the Cuban Conflict and was stationed at Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas from 1961 until 1962. Returning to Mangum, Lonnie began working for Dr. Fred Sellers on his chicken ranch. In 1964, the family moved to Granite where Lonnie oversaw Dr. Seller"s hog ranch of seven hundred hogs. In 1973, the family moved back to Mangum, where Lonnie retired due to his health. Lonnie enjoyed spending his free time fishing and was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Granite Assembly of God.
Preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marshall Passmore and two sisters, Clara Mae Smith and Vida Lee Ratliff, he is survived by his wife, Revia Passmore of Mangum; two children, Cynthia Kay Smith and husband Jay of Mangum and Ronald Keith Passmore and wife Lynette of Mangum; four grandchildren, Johnathan Smith and wife April of Mangum, Justin Smith of Mangum, Amber Passmore of Oklahoma City and Alexander Passmore of Mangum; two great grandchildren, Jaydon Smith and Jessie Lynn Smith of Mangum; one sister, Jewell Haynes and husband Bill of Vernon, Texas along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Lonnie Passmore will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Granite Assembly of God with Pastor Tim McGough officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
