Obituary for Loretta Faye Brown
Loretta Faye Brown passed away Friday, March 15, 2013. Services have been scheduled for 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Ken Lyles officiating. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. The family will receive guests at Lowell-Tims on Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 7:30.

Loretta was born March 1, 1935 in Altus to Leonard and Ludy (Hampton) Burgan. She was raised in Altus and attended the Altus Public School System. On October 24, 1959, Loretta married Eddie Brown, who was in the US Air Force. After a tour in Taiwan, they returned to Jackson County and bought a farm in the Warren Community where she became a "farmer's wife". Loretta also worked several places in Altus before eventually going to work at the Sagamar restaurant where she was a waitress and hostess for many years.

She was a very active member of the OHCE Farm Women's Club for over 50 years, where she served as President and as Secretary several times. She was a devoted member of the Warren Baptist Church and was the treasurer for the Warren Community Center for 4 years.

Loretta loved her friends and loved the time she got to spend with them. She played Spades at the old Warren Community Center, then at the new one when it was built. The group played one day a week and she rarely missed a game until she became too sick to attend their weekly gatherings. Loretta loved to shop and you could find her on Friday mornings in Walmart where she loved to visit with friends and family she met there. She had a smile for everyone she met.

Loretta was a cherished wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who adored all her family and friends. She wore many hats for many people and was able to fulfill them all.

She is survived by her husband, Eddie of the home; one son, Scott Brown and wife Charlotte of Friendship, OK; two granddaughters, Sunny Casmir and husband Jake of Denton, TX and Amie Jensen and husband Chuck of Manitou, OK; two grandsons, Christopher Brown and Cody Brown, both of Altus; two great-grandsons, Bryson and Ryan Casmir of Denton, TX; one great-granddaughter, Sadie Jensen of Manitou, OK; and many many other relatives and friends.

Loretta was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents, Leonard and Ludy Burgan; one brother, Jessie Butch Burgan; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Esta and Bill Brown; and one brother-in-law, Jay Brown.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Altus Cancer Center in Loretta's name or the charity of your choice.

For family and friends not able to attend the service, Lowell-Tims will provide a live Web-cast of the service beginning at 10:58 am on Wednesday. To join, go to www.lowell-tims.com click on obituaries, then on Loretta Brown. There will be a large button inviting you to join the web-cast.
