Louis Hansford McEndree, 78, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 1995, at the Quartz Mountain Care Center in Altus. Louis was born December 10, 1916, at Eldorado, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Alvin and Mamie "Gebhart" McEndree.
On December 10, 1938, Louis and Lucy Gilliam were united in marriage in the minister's house south of Gould. Mr McEndree worked for the State Department of Transportation in Altus for several years until being transferred to Hollis in 1969 as the County Foreman. He lived and worked in Hollis until his retirement in 1981. In 1989, Louis and Lucy moved back to Altus.
Louis was a very active member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ.
Mr. McEndree was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Melba Ruth McEndree; and by four brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by Lucy , his wife of 56 years; two sons and daughter-in-laws,, Paul and Deanna McEndree of Altus and Jerry and Jane McEndree of Hurst,Texas; one brother, Marion Mc
Endree of Weatherford, Texas; two sisters, Reba Teakell of Wichita Falls, Texas and Roxie McLaughlin of Altus; three grandchildren, Scott McEndree, Lori McEndree and Stephen McEndree; and two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Christopher McEndree.
