Obituary for Lurlene Hall Perry
Lurlene Hall Perry, age 94, of Duke, Oklahoma, passed away Friday,
July 26, 2019 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Lurlene was
born in Duke, Oklahoma on October 22, 1924 to Ernest and Gladys
(Lankford) Hall. She was raised two miles south of Duke. Lurlene
graduated in 1942 from Duke High School and was known for her
basketball skills. She was baptized in Turkey Creek south of Duke in
1939.
Lurlene married Kenneth Murl Perry on March 11, 1950 in Quartzsite,
Arizona. They lived in Hawthorne, California where Lurlene worked for many years at North American Aviation. Eventually they moved to Yuma, Arizona and developed several businesses including citrus farms and a trailer park. Lurlene and Kenneth enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many days at Lake Mead, Nevada. In later years they moved to Duke to be close to family.
Lurlene was a kind-spirited person who loved her family deeply.
She was a part of the Greatest Generation, born before the start of
the Great Depression. During World War II, Lurlene worked in an
airplane factory and continued working in the aviation industry until her
retirement.
It was a pleasure to visit with Lurlene and hear her stories about the
life she and Ken shared. They owned a number of dogs over the years
which reflected her love and compassion for animals.
Lurlene was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth
Murl Perry; parents, Ernest and Gladys (Lankford) Hall; brothers
Roland Hall and wife Ruth; Cecil Hall and wife Eileen; and niece,
Sharron (Hall) Schnorrenberg.
She is survived by nephews Gary Hall and wife Susan, and Danny
Hall and wife Vickie, all of Duke, Oklahoma. Michael Hall and wife
Lori of Hawthorne, California; nieces Risa Darby and husband Ken
of Duke, Oklahoma, and Dana Darby and husband Richard of Altus,
Oklahoma. She also had numerous other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Altus Animal Welfare Association (AAWA), 2204 Enterprise Drive, Altus, Oklahoma 73521 or Duke School Foundation, PO Box 345, Duke, Oklahoma 73532.
The Hall and Perry family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 29 at the Prairie Hill Cemetery, Duke, Oklahoma.
