Obituary for Lyle Baartman
Lyle Baartman, age 49, a long-time resident of Altus, passed away Sunday, October 19, in Altus.

Lyle was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on September 28, 1959 to Peter and Shirley (Slykhuis) Baartman. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Altus and worked for the City of Altus in the Parks and Recreation department. Lyle was also a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lyle loved his family and he will be missed very much.

Preceded in death by his father and one son, Johnathon Baartman; Lyle is survived by his mother Shirley Baartman of Altus; one son, Jeremiah Baartman and his wife Angel of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; one daughter, Jessika Shay of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two brothers, Les Baartman of Altus; Lorin Baartman of Altus; two sisters, Lynne Meyer and her husband Pat of Altus; Leanna McKee of Altus; three grandchildren, Kaden, Konner and Cam'ron; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 2:00 pm, with David Stewart officiating. Under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.

The family of Lyle Baartman asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alcoholics Anonymous - A.A. World Services, P.O. Box 459, New York, NY 10163 or to the American Liver Foundation, 75 Maiden Lane, Suite 603, New York, NY 10038.
