Obituary for Lynda Ruth Shafer
Lynda "Nana" Ruth Shafer, 55, went to live with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017 in her home of natural causes. She became ill on Tuesday and went peacefully in the night during her sleep. A memorial service will be held on January 5, 2018 at Penn Avenue Redemption Church (1321 N. Pennsylvania Ave OKC, OK 73107) at 6:00pm with Brad Rogers officiating.

She leaves behind her "other mother" Maxine "Nanny" Melott, two sons Jon Melott (husband Shane) and Jason Melott; Grandchildren Connor Melott, Claira Lazzaro, and Cole Melott; Sisters Janie Soto (husband Tony), Robin Wertz, Carolyn "Chris" Carver, Traci Tackett (husband Caleb), Kelly Holloway (husband Toby and children Slade, Coby, Michael, Dalton, and Brittany) and Brother Jerry Carver (fianc" Chrissy Martin); niece Ashley Wertz (children Amera, Analyssa, and Tanari), niece Chelsea Stanford (husband Justin and son Brody), nephew Anthony Putman (wife Elizabeth and son Aiden), step-daughter Crystal Shafer (daughters Taylor and Zania), and many other people she considered family.

She is preceded in death by her sister Diane Carver, her grandparents John and Ruth Johnson, her mother Joann Carver, her uncle Don Vaughn Sr., and nephew Charles Wertz.

Born in Ft. Cobb, OK on January 26, 1962. She spent most of her young life in the Shawnee, Seminole and Norman Areas. After starting a family, she attended Gordon Cooper Technology Center to study accounting and later she retired from Steve"s Wholesale as payroll clerk. Her hobbies include reading, Science Fiction TV, crocheting, swimming in the pool in the summer, and most importantly, spending time with her family. No one was better at reading, watching tv, and listing to music, all at the same time. She loved children and babysat daily for friends and family. She attended Penn Avenue Redemption Church and was well known for her loving spirit. Her parting words every time you left her house were "I love you more."

Her home was always so welcoming. You had nothing to worry about while you were there. Just grab a blanket cause you"ll need one and make yourself comfortable in the chair, no judgment, just real love there.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
