Maggie Lee Watson, age 97, of Mangum, passed away Thursday evening, December 30, 2010, at Grace Living Center.
Mrs. Watson was born on November 18, 1913, in Reed, Oklahoma to James and Sarah Louisa (Darden) Vaughan. On June 1, 1929, she married the love of her life, Floyd Vernon Watson, in Mangum, where they made their home, operated a grocery store and The Tiger Grill, until 1952, when the family moved to Oklahoma City. While in Oklahoma City, Maggie worked for many years at Rothchilds Department store as a retail clerk, owned a restaurant and had rental property. Maggie and Floyd had fifty-one wonderful years together before his death in 1980. Maggie loved spending her spare time cooking and sewing, but these were only second to spending time taking care of her family, especially her three grandsons and their families.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Peggy Jo Norman, one sister and four brothers. Survivors include three grandsons, Rick Norman and wife Michelle of Oklahoma City, Ed Norman and wife Liz of Mangum and Chris Norman and wife Kelli of Mangum; eleven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Maggie Watson will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Roselawn Cemetery, with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
