Obituary for Mamie Jewel Hickerson
Mamie Jewel Hickerson, age 92, passed away early Saturday, March 28th, 1987, morning at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services have been set for 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 30th at the First Presbyterian Church officiated by The Reverend Ed Brenegar. Burial will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Born August 11th, 1894 in Montgomery City, Missouri, she married Henry T. Hickerson on August 27, 1913. They moved to Altus October 15, 1925. They established 'Hickerson's Furniture' on North Main in 1933. Until recently Mrs. Hickerson worked every day at the business. Her husband preceded her in death October 20, 1979.
Survivors include: one son, Harold Hickerson of Altus, OK; one sister, Pearl Dixon of Hollis, OK; seven grandchildren, Tom Hickerson of Ithaca, NY, Sarah Turnbo of Altus, OK, Robert Hickerson of Anchorage,Alaska, Rebekah Grimes of Altus, OK, John Hickerson of Granite, OK, Mamie Hickerson and Paul Hickerson of Altus, OK; five great-grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
