Obituary for Marcos Vargas
VARGAS
Marcos Vargas, Sr., age 62, passed away early Thursday morning, November 3, 2011, at Harmon Memorial Hospital, in Hollis.
Mr. Vargas was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 18, 1949, to Domingo and Alifonsa (Zapata) Vargas. Moving to Southwest Oklahoma during the 1950"s, Marcos worked for several farmers in Southwest Oklahoma and on the Texas Plains, doing agriculture work. At age fifty, Marcos entered Colonial Manor Nursing Home, because of declining health, where he lived until his death. Playing the accordion and fishing were some of the things that Marcos enjoyed but spending time with his family and friends was what he enjoyed most in life.
Marcos was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Pete Vargas, Isabel Vargas and Augustine Vargas and two sisters, Martha Alcorta and Trina Vargas. He is survived by seven children, Carolyn Boyce and husband Paul of Dallas, Texas, Sylvia Vargas of Childress, Texas, Diane Cantu and husband David of Altus, Christina Cantu and husband Jesse of Altus, Lori Hunt and husband Adrian of Chickasha, Marcos Vargas, Jr. of Altus and Jessica Vargas of Altus; four sisters, Dominga Dominguez and husband Juan, Janie Renteria and husband Jose, Anita Rubio and husband Joel and Mary Rosales and husband Domingo; five brothers, Raymond Vargas, Frankie Vargas and wife Crystal, Ruben Vargas and wife Tammy, David Vargas and Jessie Vargas; fifteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Marcos Vargas, Sr., will be at 11 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2011, at Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Freddie Reyes officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
