HARRISON
Margie G. (Harper) Harrison, a native of Granite, Oklahoma, passed away October 25, 2010 at the age of eighty-nine.
Born May 31, 1921, Margie was the youngest of three children born to Lloyd and Nola Harper. She had two older brothers, John and Noah. Margie"s had a son, George L. Childs. She is survived by two grandsons, Rick Childs and Keith Childs. Margie is also survived by two great grandkids, Steven and Kelli Childs.
Margie left Granite at an early age. She worked during World War II as a bus driver. For much of her working life she worked as a cashier in several grocery stores in southern California, where she maintained a well-known reputation and personality that her customers and co-workers loved. She had four husbands during her life. She had her son with Carmen Childs. She had a brief marriage to Mr. Pope. Later she was married to Bill Manderbach for several years. Finally, she was married to John Harrison " twice actually " who was one of her co-workers and passed away in 1995.
During her life she lived in Chicago, North Hollywood, California, retired to Roseburg, Oregon and finally was living in Mansfield, Texas when she passed away
Margie was a flamboyant personality. She always made a definite impression on those she came in contact with. Margie loved to do everything in style. She was a fun loving person, but that is not to say she was not tough when it came to what was expected of her friends and family. She cared a great deal for all of her family and friends and if you had Margie on your side, you had a great ally.
Graveside services for Margie G. (Harper) Harrison will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Granite Rock Cemetery with Ken Hamilton officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Granite.
