Obituary for Maria Eusebia Tovar
Eusebia M. Tovar, 85, resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away August 29, 2018 surrounded by her family at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Eusebia known to many as Hermana Tovar was born March 5th, 1933 to Ezequiel and Victoriana (Reyes) Arellano in La Florida Coahuila, Mexico. On August 15, 1950 Eusebia married Claudio Tovar Sr. in La Florida Coahuila, Mexico. They had 15 children in which 12 survived. In 1973 they moved to Altus after living in Clinton, Oklahoma for 5 years . Altus is where they made their home. Eusebia and Claudio Sr. became residents in 1973 and received their U.S. citizenship in 1994. Eusebia was a housewife and a homemaker. At 40 years old she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1970 in Hobart, Oklahoma under the ministry of her eldest son Sergio Tovar. She was known for her delicious Tamales, which she sold to fund her ministry. She was certified and credentialed by the Assemblies of God Org . She was a minister and a missionary. She served 19 years in the District of Mexico and 20 years in the South Central Hispanic District of the Assemblies of God in the United States. She also worked with the Oklahoma Section Women's Department for many years. She loved spending time with her children and her many Grandchildren, five generations. She was a spiritual and inspirational mentor for her family and her many spiritual children, here in America and in Mexico. One of her favorite saying was "Hijas de Jerusalen." Her intercessory gift of prayer for each and every child and her family was unprecedented. She was able to recall every family member by name under the direction of the Holy Spirit. She was known for her big smile and her gracious spirit. She loved being behind the pulpit and sharing the Word of God. She was so faithful she attended church right up until she was reunited with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She served honorably for 45 years in her calling that God gave her. She gave her life as a Faithful Servant of God. She will truly be missed.
She is survived by her 10 children, Sergio Tovar and Amparo Charles of Houston, Texas, Maria Concepcion and husband Gustavo Rodriguez, Maria de Jesus and husband Juan Cardenas, Olivia Tovar, all of Clinton, Oklahoma. Cesar and wife Norma Tovar, Berto Tovar, Ernest Tovar, and Pastor Joe and wife Dina Tovar, all of Altus, Oklahoma, Wilma and husband Steve Yates, Claudio Jr. and wife Melissa, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Eusebia was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Georgina and Maggie Fuentes, four sisters , Tina, Lazara, Maria and Juana, two grandchildren, Natalie Tovar and Sergio Tovar Jr.
Pallbearers will be her sons Sergio, Ernest, Cesar, Pastor Joe, Claudio, and Berto Tovar .
Honorary Pallbearers will be Serigo Tovar Jr., Alex Fuentes Jr. Arnold Castro, Tabitha Cardenas, Paublo Rodriquez, Jasmine Rivera, Gabbryel Wenneker, Jeremiah Tovar, Levi Tovar, and Kali Tovar.
The viewing will be held Thursday, August 30th, 2018 from 6:00 -8:00p.m at Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
A Memorial Viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31st 2018, at Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Eusebia Tovar will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 10:00 am at Lowell-Tims Chapel. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
