Obituary for Maria Eyna Guzman
Maria Eyna Guzman, 78, Hollis, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Maria was born on June 16, 1947, in Laredo, Texas to Lauro and Alicia (Martinez) Benavides. As a child of migrant farmers, she travelled with her parents wherever the work took them. She took care of her siblings as her mom and dad worked. As she grew older, Maria helped in the fields. The family moved to Plainview, Texas for work and this is where Maria found love. Maria and Simon moved to the Hollis area and Maria worked at Colonial Manor Nursing Home as a medication aide for several years. The two had a passion for children and served as foster parents for almost 30 years. Maria enjoyed Loteria, dancing, watching movies and her sitcoms, especially The Golden Girls. She treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
