Obituary for Marion Bailey
Marion Lillian (Stackhouse) Bailey died on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at English Village Manor in Altus Ok.

She was born on March 29, 1900 in Bettsville, Ohio. she graduated from Tiffin High School in 1918. She attended Bowling Green Normal School and taught until her marriage to D. Nelson Bailey in 1928. In the early 1930's they moved to Salem, Ohio where they lived until after Nelson's death in 1988. She then moved to a retirement apartment in Altus, Oklahoma near her son.

While in Salem, Marion was superintendent of the Sunday school at the United Methodist Church, a member of the Womens Society, and sang in the Chancel Choir. She also was a member of the Salem Music Club and active with the Community Concert Series. In 1952, she returned to teaching and taught in the Salem Public Schools until retirement in 1970. She completed her BS degree in Education at Youngstown College in 1960.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Shirlee Bailey, of Altus, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Oscar Sundstedt of Davenport, IA; Six grandchildren, five step-grandchilddren and 11 great grandchildren.

Services are pending in Salem, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the D.Nelson Bailey Scholarship fund at the Salem, Ohio Community Foundation.
