Obituary for Martha A. Schoolcraft

Martha A. Schoolcraft, resident of Hollis, Oklahoma, formerly of Blair, Oklahoma, departed from her Earthy home to join the arms of the Lord on August 7th, 2023, at the age of seventy-six.

Martha was born to Orvel Adkins and Martha Myrtle Adkins on September 3, 1946, in Altus, Oklahoma. She was raised and educated in Blair, Oklahoma and graduated from Blair High School in 1965. In her adolescence she took piano lessons, Martha performed in several recitals and enjoyed playing for her friends and family. After finishing school, she moved to Altus to be an Au Par for Aunt Sue's children. While living in Altus, she met Gerald Vaughn Wilson, who was stationed at Altus Air Force Base. In 1966, Gerald and Martha were united in marriage. The Wilson family was blessed with three children: Jerrad Lee, Elizabeth, and Donna. The Wilson family made their home in Houston, Texas. In 1982 Martha and Gerald separated and Martha moved back to Oklahoma. In 1984 Martha met John Schoolcraft. They would make their home in Mangum, Oklahoma where John farmed in Greer County. In 1990 Martha and Gerald’s divorce would be finalized. In 1997 John and Martha moved to John Day Oregan then to Prairie Hill, Oregan In 1999. In 2007, Martha returned home to Oklahoma to be closer to her family. Martha loved her family were a huge part of her life, she enjoyed motherhood, but becoming a grandmother was her all-time favorite. At a young age Martha was baptized in the Pentecostal church and was a true believer of Jesus Christ. In her free time, she loved to read and solve crossword puzzles, she also loved to watch television and movies. Her favorites being Herschel, I Love Lucy, Gone with the Wind, Shirley Temple, and many others. She had a vast and diverse movie collection. Martha truly enjoyed Martha leaves a legacy of love and compassion to her friends and family.


Martha is preceded in death by her parents Orvel and Martha Myrtle Adkins; brother, Ricky Adkins; six aunts; and two uncles.


Left to honor her memory include are her son, Jerrad Lee Wilson; daughters, Elizabeth Pippin and Donna Ripley; three stepchildren, Larry Schoolcraft, Keith and Tania Schoolcraft, Barbara Jean, brother Alan Adkins and wife Lori; twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty- nine great – grandchildren and cousin whom she loved as a sister, Juanita Cole, and a sweet friend Loretta whom she cherished very much, numerous cousins whom she loved.


Private family services will be held at a later date.
