LEWIS
Martin Lloyd Lewis, age 75, of Hollis, passed away late Friday evening, January 13, 2017, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mr. Lewis was born in Borger, Texas on September 4, 1941, to Victor Lloyd and Velma Lee (Heath) Lewis. At the age of two, he moved in with his maternal grandparents, George M. and Hattie (Hanner) Heath, in Hollis. "Tooter" was the name he was given by grandma Heath and it stuck with him all his life. A 1960 graduate of Hollis High School, Tooter began college at Southwestern and completed his bachelors degree from West Texas State in Canyon, Texas. Moving to El Paso, Texas, Martin began working in the construction business as a home builder and contractor from 1965 until 1980 when he moved to Show Low, Arizona. In Show Low, he quickly began the same trade and, as in El Paso, he constructed over 500 homes before retiring to Hollis in 2000. Tooter never had children of his own, but he dearly loved his family and spent as much time as he could with them.
Preceded in death by his mother, and grandparents, he is survived by his father, Vick Lewis of Dumas, Texas; one sister, Sonya Cerini of Corona, California; two aunts, Charlottie (Heath) Testerman of Hollis and Wanda Heath of Chickasha; numerous cousins, who were close as brothers and sisters and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Martin Lloyd Lewis will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel with Bart Kirchoff officiating. Interment will follow at the McKnight Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home, of Hollis.
The family will greet friends at Harmon County Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, from 4 until 5 p.m.
