Obituary for Marvin Glenn Martin
Marvin Glenn Martin was born to Dottie Lou and Marvin Martin on December 29, 1951 in Mulberry, Arkansas. He passed away on April 3, 2021 in Altus, Oklahoma.
Glenn attended school in Arkansas and California graduating from Lowell High School in Whittier, California Class of 1970. Glenn was active in wrestling and competing in competitions earning the nickname Okie. After high school he worked as a dispatcher for local trucking companies. Later working in the family trucking business.
In 1972 Glenn moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he joined the family plumbing business. Glenn moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas as a plumber and met the love of his life Donna Cederstrom. They were wed on July 31, 1976.
Born to this union were Greg, Nathan, and Seth Martin. While living in Ft. Smith the Martins owned ABC Plumbing. In 1988 the plumbing business was taken to Mangum, Oklahoma. The couple remained in the area and raised their boys. During their school years Glenn was active in Boy Scouts as a Scout Master. Glenn taught thousands of boys wilderness survival skills. Scout Master Glenn took charge of numerous trips with his scouts. All scouts had a great time learning skills and enjoying his famous campfire cooking.
In 1992 Glenn and Donna purchased American Medi-Serve Mangum where she was the office manager for 20 plus years and Glenn was the face of the company. Glenn never met a stranger and treated his patients like family.
Glenn enjoyed his life as Grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as much as possible. He loved hosting movie nights with friends and family and spending time floating on the boat.
Glenn and Donna were a huge part of the shooting community creating Indian Territory Practical Shooters Club and Range in Duke, Oklahoma. Over the years there have been thousands of matches through IDPA and USPSA hosted at the range. Glenn let his creativity loose and always created fun stages. The Martin Clan would travel all over participating in USPSA matches. Glenn was well known for his humor and infectious laugh. He later enjoyed bowling pin shootouts in Duncan and going head to head with the “best of the best”. Often Glenn would leave with a blue 1st place bowling pin strapped in the front seat.
Glenn was a friend to many, inspiration to most, and loved by all. His life motto “Every day is a holiday and Every night is Saturday night!!”
Glenn is preceded in death by his wife Donna Martin; parents, Dottie Lou and Marvin Martin; and special cousins Kim Story and Vyarl Martin.
Glenn is survived by children Greg and Emily Martin, Nathan and Jill Martin, Seth and Samantha Martin, family in laws JD and Kathleen Davis of Arkansas, 11 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 2 great-grandchildren, along with numerous other family members and friends.
A private family gathering will take place in the near future.
