Marvin LeRoy Giffrow, age 77 of Olustee, Oklahoma and formerly of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away Wednesday afternoon on June 15, 2016 at Ayers Nursing Home in Snyder, Oklahoma.
Marvin was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 3, 1939 to his parents William Frank Giffrow and Evelyn Louise (Utecht) Giffrow. On February 14, 1965 he married Sandra Mae Schonebaum in Lincoln, Nebraska and Marvin and Sandra enjoyed over 41 years of marriage before her death in 2007. Marvin lived in several places throughout the years including; Iowa and Virginia, where he was a steel worker for 25 years and later he worked as a maintenance supervisor up and down the coast of Florida and Maine. In Portsmouth, Virginia Marvin was a deacon at the Church of Christ and most recently he had settled down in Olustee, Oklahoma where he has resided for the last five years. Marvin enjoyed watching NASCAR, model trains, working puzzles, and collecting matchbox cars. Time spent with his family was always treasured and Marvin will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by his wife Sandra Mae Giffrow; his daughter Lynn Marie Giffrow; one sister, Karen Banfield; Marvin is survived by two children, Kristie Lynn (Giffrow) Garcia and husband Jesse of Olustee; and Michael Dorwin Giffrow and with Kathy of Nebraska; ten grandchildren as well as numerous other family members and many friends.
Private family service will be held.
