Mary Bell Davis, age 91, of Mangum, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 14, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mrs. Davis was born in Kilgore, Texas on February 7, 1923, to Pershon and Essie (Washington) Hendricks. As a child, Mary Bell came to Mangum, in a covered wagon. Later in her life, she met Nathaniel Davis and they were married on October 28, 1941, and they spent the next thirty-nine wonderful years together before his death on December 1, 1980. A wonderful mother, Mary Bell was a homemaker all of her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, knitting, quilting, watching her western movies and soap operas.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four children, James Davis, Pershon Davis, Jimmy Lee Norwood and Seveila Smith; two brothers, William Hendricks and Scott Hendricks; two sisters, Ozella McKinzie and Lizzie Hendricks; one son-in-law, Joe Davis and two daugthers-in-law, Diane Davis and Jeri Davis, she is survived by four daughters, Martha Skinner of Mangum, Elizabeth Lee of Hobart, Mary Jackson and husband Joe of Hobart and Linda Davis of Mangum; three sons, Nathaniel Davis, Jr. of Mangum, Ralph Davis of Mangum and David Lee Davis of Mangum; forty-one grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mary Bell Davis will be Friday, December 19, 2014, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
