Obituary for Mary J. Hyde
Mary Jo Hyde, 83, resident of Altus since 2005, passed away February 8th, 2018 at English Village Manor. She was surrounded by staff and loved ones. Mary Jo was born December 13, 1934 in Gadsden Alabama. She married Forrest Harvey Hyde on August 1st 1952 and moved to the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.
Mary Jo and Forrest Harvey Hyde resided in College Park, Maryland for the majority of their 58 year marriage then in November 2005 moved to Altus, OK to be closer to their daughter Pamela Jo Hyde.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father Samuel Lee Watts; mother, Dora Bates Watts beloved husband ,Forrest Harvey Hyde. She was also preceded by her 7 sisters and brothers, Edith Watts Hardie, Lucy Helms, Betty Godbey, Frank Watts, Clyde Watts, Van Watts, and Charles Poore.
Mary Jo is survived by her son, Michael Lamar Hyde and his wife Judy Matthews of Fort Worth, TX; son, Ronald Clark Hyde and his wife Shirley Hyde of Lothian, MD; and daughter, Pamela Jo Hyde and her husband Christopher Riffle of Altus, OK. Mary Jo was blessed with many grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren who will miss her.
Special thanks to the staff of English Village Manor and Jackson County Hospice who provided care and comfort to Mary Jo for the last 13 months.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mary Jo Hyde to www.brightfocus.org. This is a research foundation for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease, Age Related Macular Degeneration, and Glaucoma.
Visitation will be held at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Friday February 16, 2018 from 4:00 to6:00 PM
Services will be held at the Altus City Cemetery Chapel Saturday February 17, 2018 at 2:00PM.
