Mary Jo Taylor, age 82, of Vinson, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Taylor was born on November 25, 1926, in Jester, Oklahoma to Ollie Cleburne and Cora Bell (Reeser) Williams. She married James William Taylor on June 9, 1945, in Mangum, and he preceded her in death in 1981. Mary Jo and James owned and operated the Vinson Service Station and Garage for many years. Together they raised five boys. A longtime member of the Vinson First Baptist Church, Mary Jo loved gospel music and singing. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Kenneth Williams, Clyde Williams; Archie Williams and Melvin Williams, she is survived by five sons, Jr Taylor and wife Stephanie of Vinson, Grover Taylor of Vinson, Bobby Taylor and wife Margaret of Blair, Tommie Taylor and wife Barbara of Grand Lake, Oklahoma and Johnny Taylor and wife Sunny of Mangum; twelve grandchildren, Steven Taylor and wife Nicole of Stillwater, Shannon Osborne and husband Larry of Brookings, South Dakota, Stacey Frazier and husband Kalip of Stillwater, Shelia Ann Culbertson and husband Jeff of Chicago, Illinois, Daniel Taylor of Oklahoma City, Shelley Diane Jech and husband Jerry of Kingfisher, Sandra Dawn Peterson and husband Trent of Aviano AFB, Italy, Randall Taylor of Altus, Jason Levi Taylor of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Kylie Lester of Mangum, Olivia Jo Taylor of Mangum and Messina Taylor of Mangum; fourteen great grandchildren, Logan Taylor, Madison Taylor, Samuel Osborne, Adam Osborne, Sarah Osborne, Cedrik Frazier, J.C. Culberson and wife Jessica, Taylor Culbertson, Miranda Martin, Trent Peterson, Gabrielle Peterson, Ivana Peterson, Ashley Taylor and Corey Taylor; two great-great grandchildren, Abbi Culbertson and Trey Taylor; three sisters, Myrtle Irene Reagan of Mangum, Bertha Cooley and husband Preston of Mangum and Stella Uptergrove and husband Gary of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Cleo Williams and wife Bobbie of Mangum and Raymond Williams and wife Lilia of Mangum; two special sisters-in-law, Sue Brownsworth of Enid, Oklahoma and Jewel Hayes of Dayton, Texas; a very special brother-in-law, Burl Mitchell of Reed along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Mary Jo Taylor will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at the Vinson First Baptist Church with Rev. James Flynn and Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Cave Creek Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
