Obituary for Mary Lee Brown
Mary Lee Brown, age 83, passed away following a lengthy battle with cancer, on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the English Village Manor in Altus.
Mary Brown was born May 6, 1927 in Blair, Oklahoma to Rye Fredrick and Nellie Maude (Marble). On July 1, 1942, she married Paul Raymond Brown. They were married by his father, Rev. Foster Brown in Manitou, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Blair First Baptist Church and of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed a variety of past-times including traveling, baking, cooking, flower arranging, and camping"but she adored being with her family, whether it was taking care of grandchildren, going to family reunions and just sitting and visiting. She also loved her little dog, Baby. Seeing Baby in her arms, you realized the true meaning of "Man"s Best Friend and Companion".
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Paul; one son, Jim Brown; a sister, Olga Faye Pollard; two brothers, Eddie Sprabary and Jack Sullivan; and by one grandson, Justin Steadham.
Mary is lovingly survived by five children, Sandra "Sparky" Rice of Granite, OK, Pamela Parsons of Mt. Park, Ok., Tommy Brown of Granite, Rose Ann Brown also of Granite, and Dixie Shope and her husband, Jim of Altus, Ok.; one sister, Dana Booker and husband Marlan of Headrick, Ok.; one brother, Al Sullivan and wife Marilyn of Blair, Ok.; an especially close brother-in-law, Butch Brown and wife Marsha; ten grandchildren, Shana Brown, Branden Brown, James "Jim Bob" Brown, Dusty Tate, Rusty Schertler, Eddie Paul Brown, Jacquelyne Brown, Lazel Fisher Jr., Tanner Taylor, and Candice Carney; and by twelve great-grandchildren.
