Obituary for Mary Myrtle Nelson
Funeral services have been set for Mary Myrtle Nelson for 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the Eldorado First Baptist Church with the Reverend Ken Coleman officiating. Burial will be in the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Covington County, Alabama on October 17th, 1906 to James and Minnie (Watkins) Grimes. On April 13, 1924 she married Crawford Nelson in Florala, AL. In 1927 the family moved to the Eldorado area where they farmed until the death of Mr. Nelson in 1976. Mrs. Nelson continued to be an active member of the community, participating in many activities at the Eldorado Baptist Church and a membership in the Eastern Star.
On Wednesday, March 25th, 1987, she passed away in Hobbs, NM while visiting her son Farris Nelson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Crawford Nelson; two brothers, Duell Grimes and Oris Grimes; one sister, Lillian White.
Survivors include: two sons, Farris Nelson of Hobbs, New Mexico and James Nelson of Lake Charles, LA; two brothers, Ferrin Grimes of Georgetown, FL and Eugene Grimes of Wagoner, OK; two sisters, Blanch Kimbril of Georgetown, FL and Eva Crume of Eldorado, OK; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
