Obituary for Mary Teague Abernathy
Mary Teague Abernathy, age 71, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, January 24th, 1998 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 4th, 1926 at Cordell, Oklahoma to the late Teague Stevenson Fisher and Florence Orpha (Caves) Fisher. She was a graduate of Cordell High School in 1945 and she later graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1948. Upon graduating she came to Altus where she worked as Assistant Home Demonstration Agent and 4-H agent. Her father had formerly been County Farm Agent in Altus in the early 1920's. She also taught school at Olustee.

On March 19, 1954 at Cordell, OK, she and Roger Abernathy were united in marriage and lived in the Altus was a member of the area for the last 43 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Cordell, Oklahoma and attended the First Baptist Church of Altus.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 27, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Melvin Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband Roger of the home; three children, Dee Ann Kime and her husband George of Altus, Oklahoma, Janie Cupp and her husband Tim of Plano, TX, Eddie Abernathy of Altus, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Patrick and Jason Cupp of Plano, TX, William Kime, Debra Kime and Cynthia Kime all of Altus, Oklahoma.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Tommy Fisher, Dan Fisher and Steve Fisher.
