Obituary for Mary Tina Weaver
Mary Tina Weaver, age 90, life-long resident of Altus passed away December 20, 2004. Mary Tina was born August 7, 1914 in Vinson, Oklahoma to L.A. and Susan Elizabeth Davidson. She spent all of her youth in Vinson graduating from Vinson High School at the age of 16. She attended Chickasha Women's College for two years, transferring to Southwestern Oklahoma State College where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. While at Southwestern Oklahoma State College, Mary Tina met and married Eddie S. Weaver in 1934. After teaching in several surrounding communities, Mary Tina and Eddie returned to Altus where she began a 40-year career with Altus Public Schools until her retirement in 1979.
Mary Tina was a member of the Altus retired Teachers Association, First United Methodist Church and Bell Choir and the Clionians.
Mary Tina was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Ethel Pence, and a brother Lilburn Davidson. She is survived by a son, Edward D. Weaver of Altus; two daughters, Marilyn Buck and husband Joe, and Carol Moore of Altus; five granddaughters, Tina Cossey and husband David, Toye Mitchell and husband George and Teri Philbrick, all of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ree Ethridge and her husband Jason of Dallas, Texas and Mary Buck Moore and her husband Billy of Lubbock, Texas; two grandsons, Robert Grimm and Gregg Buck and his wife Andrea, all of Altus; great-grandchildren are, Whitney (Mitchell) Nelson and her husband Jeremy, Carson Mitchell, Abbey and Bennett Philbrick, and Jacob and Justin Cossey, all of Edmond, Oklahoma, Stacy Buck and Brayden Buck of Altus and Megan Myers of Dallas, Texas; two very special friends, Ollie Hart and Leticia Gomez also survive.
Funeral services for Mary Tina Weaver will be Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Altus with Reverend Marjorie VanOostrum officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
