Obituary for Mattie "Nell" Reeder
Mattie Nell Reeder, age 78 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away August 18, 1999, at the Bishop-Davies Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The family will receive friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:00 until 7:30 Friday. A private burial service will be held at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Nell was born on September 12, 1920 to Minnie and Joe Aubery Taver in Paris Mississippi. She graduated from Taylor High School in Taylor Mississippi and attended business school in Oxford, Mississippi. On October 24, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee, Nell married
Robert Reeder, the former county extension director of Beckham and Jackson Counties in Oklahoma. She worked as a bookkeeper for Hampton Chevrolet in Sayer, and McPherson Ford and Wilmes Ford in Altus, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Clionian Club and the First United Methodist Church of Altus.
Nell was devoted to her family and friends. She loved to cook and was always ready to feed anyone who dropped in. Her other hobbies included painting and reading.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Reeder of Fort Worth, Texas, her son, Carl Joe and daughter-in-law, Ann Mock Reeder of Fort worth, Texas, her daughter, Bobbie Nell and son-in-law Malcolm Fraser of Long Beach, California, and her brother, Raymond Taver of Bedford, Indiana.
