Obituary for Mattie Pauline Grant
Pauline Williams Gant died following an automobile accident, Tuesday, July 12th, 1994 in Mansfield, Texas, where she had recently moved to from Altus.
Services will be held Friday morning, July 15, 1994 in the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel at
10:30 a.m. with burial following in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home. Bill Osborne, Minister of the Eldorado Church of Christ and a nephew of Mrs. Grant, Jack McKeown, Minister of the Thomas Street Church of Christ, will officiate.
Pauline was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee March 4, 1917 to Will and Liccie Jane (Gant) Williams. She moved with her family to the Altus area in 1920. Survivors include: her four daughters and their families, Nancy and Buddy Zaplac of Victoria, TX (temporarily residing in Singapore), Janice and Jimmy Point of Pineville, LA, Kay and Norman Cates of Kansas City, MO and Elizabeth and Bob Burkepile of Mansfield, Texas. Also, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Garland Williams of Olustee, OK. She is also survived by three nieces of Altus, OK, Lurlene Williams, Marietta Montgomery and Jane Breeding.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Otis Grant; her parents; three sisters, Gladys Gresham, Mary Bonner and Ruth Williams; three brothers, Lawton, Cecil and G.W., all of Altus, Oklahoma.
Pauline was a graduate of the Harmony High School and an active member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ and the Wednesday Morning Ladies Bible Class. She was a volunteer helper at the Altus House Nursing Home, the American Red Cross Blood Mobile and the Southwest Oklahoma Community Action. She loved to read, work in her garden, be with her grandchildren and was an avid television sports fan.
