Obituary for Maxine Worth Mason Grewe
Maxine Mason, 84, of Altus, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2012 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1928 in Altus to T.W. and Beulah (Mead) Mason. She grew up in Altus and graduated from Porter High School. After graduation, Maxine moved to the west coast where she managed several restaurants in California and Nevada before returning to Altus. She then worked at the Friendship Inn for many years. Maxine was a unique individual and will be remembered by many. She never had a customer without remembering their names and loved to verbally spar with them.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, T.W. and Beulah Mason; sister and brother-in-law, Billy Jean and Chick Chicklero; and an infant grandson, Michael.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Steve Kastner of Altus; grandchildren, Ray Avila and wife Becca, Richie Avila andd wife Wicy; Tina Denton; twelve great-grandchildren, Michael, Desere, Rustin, Morgan, Kayla, Sierra, Shelby, Cameron, Cody, Kyle, Dustin and Ryan; and four great-great-grandchildren, Breiyan, Trevor, Savannah, and Jordyn.
Also surviving are nieces Tommie Green and husband Mark and Pam Smith; great-nephew, Robert Ramos and wife Cindy; great-niece, Dawn Ramos; great-great nieces and nephews, Cody, Heidi, Olivia, Alex and Brook.
Services have been scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Jason Duree officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
