Obituary for Melton Hershel Hughes
Melton Hershel Hughes age 78, of Olustee, Oklahoma was born February 16, 1918 in Seymore, Texas, the son of the late Roy Richard and Susie Ada "Escue" Hughes. He was a lifelong resident of Jacskon County. Mr. Hughes passed away Tuesday, February 11, 1997, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be at 2:00pm Thursday, February 13, 1997 in the Olustee Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. On April 15, 1939, he and Alice Adelia Willeford were united in marriage at Altus, Oklahoma. Mr Hughes was a retired farmer; and a member of the Olustee Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to the Olustee Church of Christ or to the Jackson County Memorial Hospice. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home, Wednesday evening from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

Survivors include his wife Alice Adelia Huhges of the home; children; Karla Marquart and husband Jerry of Duke, Oklahoma; Nancy Carter and husband Gary of Lubbock, Texas; Lannie Hughes and wife, Minerva of Edmond, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Mitzi Marquart of Lockhart, Texas, Kacy Marquart of Duke, Oklahoma, and Mark Carter and his wife, Sharon of Houston, Texas; 1 great-granddaughter, Amanda Carter of Houston, Texas.

Preceded in death by parents; and 4 brothers.
