Obituary for Melvin Luther Boyett
Melvin Luther Boyett, age 84, was born August 19th, 1909 in Harmon County, Oklahoma, the son of Jahue Thomas and Margaret (Anderson) Boyett. He was a lifelong resident of Southwest Oklahoma. Mr. Boyett passed away July 20th, 1994, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital, Altus, Oklahoma.

Services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 1994 at the First Baptist Church of Altus with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

Mr. Boyett graduated from Hollis High School in 1929. On December 3, 1932, he married Gladys Poling in Altus. He was employed by Chickasha Cotton Oil Company, working as a gin manager from 1931 to 1945 before moving to Altus and serving as the District Superintendent of the Gin Dept. of the company until 1960. He managed Altus Supply until his retirement in 1971. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Gladys Boyett of the home; two children, Sharon Hensley and husband Don of Brownfield, TX and Benda Boyett of Tuscon, AZ; one sister, Audry Dill of Borger, TX; four grandchildren, Duarte Hensley, Jeph Hensley, both of Amarillo, TX, Cinnamon Walker-Tomberlin of Denver, CO and Ivy Riddle of Tuscon, AZ; three great-grandchildren; one niece, Sue Cornforth; one nephew, Mark Dill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
