Obituary for Merle Edward Jones
Merle Edward Jones, age 87, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Monday, August 2, 1999 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 23, 1911 in South Dakota to the late Edward and May (Cogan) Jones.

On October 4, 1941 in Newcastle, Wyoming Merle and bertha Tipton were united in marriage. Merle had worked for a cement plant as an Oiler for many years. He had lived in the Altus area since 1976 moving here from South Dakota.

Merle enjoyed eating home cooked meals, visiting with family and friends and hiking in the hills in South Dakota with his wife Bertha.

Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, August 6, 1999 at the Altus City Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife Bertha of the home in Altus, Oklahoma, three children, Ruby Patterson of Rapid City, Sough Dakota, LeRoy Jones of Quarts Hills, California, Wanda Davison and husband Bill of Altus, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, William Davison of Altus, Oklahoma, Wayne Davidson of Oceanside, California, Lisa Beens of San Antonio, Texas, Duska Rohrach of Battle Ground, Washington, Remington Jones of Quarts, California, and Elzana Jones of Quartz, California; three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Casey Jones.
