Obituary for Merlin H. Felix
Merlin H. Felix was born May 26, 1931 at Enid, Oklahoma to John C. Felix and Grace (Rine) Felix. He died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in Altus, Oklahoma. He grew up on a farm near Nash, Oklahoma where he attended twelve years of school. Merlin joined the First Christian Church of Nash in 1945. After graduation he joined the Army and served in the Airborne for three years. He joined the Air Force in 1956 and retired after 20 years of active duty as a jet engine mechanic on KC-135 and B-52 aircraft. He continued working as a Civil Service employee until 1987. Merlin enjoyed having coffee with his friends and making and giving horse shoe nail crosses to those he met.
Merlin married Iris Hendricks on October 9, 1954 at Nash, Oklahoma. They had two children Kirt R. and Britt D.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Iris, of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; their two sons, one granddaughter, Katrina Felix, brother-in-law, Monte Hendricks and wife. Other survivors are his sister-in-law, Orrana Felix, numerous nieces, and nephews and many friends.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ross, Melvin, Dewayne Wilbur; sisters, Arlie, Ruby, Mildred and Claudine.
Funeral services for Merlin H. Felix are scheduled for Friday February 17, 2012 at 10:00am First Christian Church, Altus, Oklahoma officiated by Mark Morey. Burial will follow at 4:30pm in New Home Cemetery, Nash, Oklahoma, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Merlin H. Felix will greet friends and family Thursday, February 16, 2012, 6:30 until 7:30 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
