Mrs. Underwood was born in Jester, Oklahoma, on May 3, 1924, to Blaine Cornell and Mary May (Moffeitt) Paxton. After graduating from Willow School in 1941, she taught for a short time at Willow before marrying Terence Kyle (T.K.) Underwood on April 12, 1946. A teacher who loved her students, Mildred later owned and operated Underwood"s Flowers in Hobart. After the death of her beloved T.K., she moved to Gotebo in 2001 and then to Clinton in 2006, where she lived until her death.
