Obituary for Millard D. Grantham
Millard DuWayne Grantham "Wayne", longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma and former resident of McAlester, Oklahoma departed his earthly home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2023 at Wilbarger General Hospital in Vernon, Texas.
Millard was born January 3, 1934 to William Jennings Bryan Grantham and Allie Nellie Jean (Williams) Grantham in his longtime hometown of McAlester, Oklahoma. Here, he grew up and attended grade school until he had to unfortunately leave due to contracting polio. It was in McAlester where he met his lovely wife, Sybil Grantham. They joined in marriage in May of 1953 in Arkansas. During their 59 years together, they stayed in McAlester before moving to Lubbock, Texas in 1958, also briefly living in Sweeny, Texas, before going back to McAlester where they stayed and raised their children while Millard worked at A.E. Quest Tent & Tarp Maker until his retirement in 1977. Later in 2011, they packed up and moved to Altus, Oklahoma where they enjoyed their time together until her passing on February 2, 2012. He meets her once again at the gates of Heaven, continuing together for eternity.
Millard was a salesman. He enjoyed buying second-hand items and reselling them at his own second-hand store while also working as a carpenter. He was a talented man and was very hardworking. Millard was a good Christian man who regularly attended Apostolic Truth Pentecostal. He was good with people and loved talking to anyone he could, especially his family. He spent many hours with his kids and many grandkids, making sure to create memories that would last a lifetime.
Millard is preceded in death by his wife Sybil Grantham; parents Bryan and Allie Nellie Jean Grantham; and daughters Dianna Wright and Barbara Grantham.
Left to remember Millard are his son Millard D. Grantham Jr. and wife Shannon; daughter Jetta Stegall and husband Jerry; 13 grandkids: Elizabeth Howard, Ethan Stegall, Christie Lunde, Stephanie Lunde, Gwen Christyauntie, Summer Christyauntie, Anthony Wright, Natasha Smith, Ezra Solis, Justin McDonald, Jason Gorman, Ashlee Thompson, and Chance Grantham; as well as 25 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
