Obituary for Minnie Sue Standlee
Sue M. Standlee, age 77, of Duncanville, Texas passed away Monday, March 8, 2004, at her home. Services have been scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2004, at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rod Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Sue was born August 27, 1926 in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of reverend George W. and Minnie Eunice (Barefield) Thomas. On December 30, 1943, Sue and Lester Jackson "Jack" Standlee were united in marriage. They moved from Wichita Falls, Texas to the Altus area in the 1950's and made their home their for over fifty years. Jack preceded her in death March 22, 1988. Sue was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Altus for over fifty years where she served her Lord in many compacities. She was very devoted to her church and her family and loved nothing more than caring for them. She also worked as an Insurance Clerk for over twenty-five years. Sue moved to Duncanville, Texas in December of 1999 to be close to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; and both of her daughters, Kathy Standlee and Mitzie Shadid; as well as by her brother, Barefield Thomas and sister, Katherine Patterson.
Sue is lovingly survived by two grandsons, Jerame Shadid of Plano, Texas and Jerod Shadid of Edmond, Oklahoma; one son-in-law, Randel Shadid of Edmond, Oklahoma; one brother, George W. Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Pauline of Austin, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and by several great-nieces and great-nephews.
