Obituary for Mitzi Faye Brown
Mitzi Faye (McCullough) Brown was born August 24, 1931 to Estes and Opal (Hess) McCullough in Altus, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully June 1, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mitzi grew up and attended school at Elmer until it consolidated with other area schools and became Southside Public Schools. It was there that she met the love of her life, Calvin Brown, and married him February 4, 1948. She was Calvin's "Sug" and he was her "Hun". The two continued their honeymoon for over fifty years until Calvin proceeded her in death in 1999. Mitzi and Calvin had two daughters, Kathy (Brown) Stafford and Karen Brown-Tims.
During their half-century long marriage, Mitzi and her husband built a bustling farming operation in Jackson County. She enjoyed bringing meals out to the crews working harvest late into the evenings and always welcomed in friends and family to their home. Through the years, Mitzi worked for The Blossom Shop as a florist and for the Elks Country Club in Altus as their bookkeeper. She was an avid golfer, Canasta player, and a dedicated farmer's wife. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and rarely missed a single event in which they were involved.
Mitzi is preceded in death by her parents, Estes and Opal McCullough, a stepmother, Velma McCullough, her husband Calvin Brown all of Elmer, OK. She is survived by her two daughters Kathy (Brown) Stafford and her husband Joe of Elmer and Karen Brown-Tims of Edmond, OK. She leaves behind three grandchildren Wendy Delorio and husband Shawn of Cache, OK, T.J. Tims and wife Macie, of Edmond, OK and J.C. Stafford and wife Deedee of Elmer, OK. Mitzi is also survived by five great grandchildren, Kallie and Kynslie Delorio, Lincoln and Claira Stafford, and Tev Tims.
The Brown family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. Sunday June 2, 2019 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. June 3, 2019 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma.
