Morine "Mo" Smith, age 59 of Altus passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Mo was born in East Saint Louis, Illinois on November 2, 1956 to her parents Delbert and Genevieve (Horcher) Gummersheimer. She grew up in Columbia, Illinois where she graduated high school and met the love her life Orville "Sonny" Smith. They were married on May 9, 1975 in Columbia and enjoyed over 40 years of marriage together. While Sonny served in the Air Force the family lived in many places and finally landed in Altus where they have resided since 1991. Many people know Mo from her work at the Altus Air Force Base Commissary, bowling, playing bingo and cards. Mo enjoyed traveling and being with her family who she loved very much.
Preceded in death by her parents, survivors include: her husband Orville "Sonny" Smith of the home; her two children Sonny James Smith of Altus and Tara Bowman and her husband Jeff of Altus; one brother, David Gummersheimer and his wife Betty of Columbia, Illinois; one sister, Sharon Moergen and her husband Dan also of Columbia, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Kenedi, Sierra, Ivan, Timothy, Michael, Jayson, and Kaydenze; as well as many other family members and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Pastor DJ Luna officiating.
