Obituary for Ned Shadid
Ned Shadid, age 98, passed away July 20, 2011, in his home in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born November 22, 1912 to Elias Abraham Shadid and Nehama "Taylor" Shadid. Ned was a 1931 graduate of Mangum High School.
He and his brother, Philip, started a successful farming operation South of Martha, Oklahoma, which is still in existence today.
Ned was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. He was involved in many philanthropic organizations that focus on providing relief to the needy in addition to delivering the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world. Ned was devoted to his family and his love was evident as seen by the smile that was always on his face.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Jack Shadid, Hoyt Shadid, Coy Shadid, Abe Shadid, and Philip Shadid, and one sister, Edna Shadid Dakil.
Ned is survived by his sister, Olga Shadid Hawkins of Altus, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Jimmie Shadid Brown of Edmond, Oklahoma and Lila Shadid of Altus, Oklahoma; five nephews, Randel Shadid of Edmond, Oklahoma and his wife Dana, Barry Shadid of Edmond, Oklahoma and his wife, Doreen, Steven Shadid of Norman, Oklahoma and Jay Douglas Shadid of Panhandle, Texas and his wife Patrice and Dr. Tanell Dakil of Altus, Oklahoma and his wife, Mary Jo; four nieces, Robin Shadid Wray of Altus, Oklahoma and husband Chris, Joan Dakil Tanner of Denton, Texas and husband R.B., Eleanor Dakil and Linda Dakil of Denton, Texas; several great nieces and nephews, and his loving caregivers, Marilyn Briscoe, Judy Stoops, Debbie Wright, Liz Ditmore and Marla Collier. Ned will lovingly be remembered by a host of family and friends.
Services have been scheduled for 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hoyt Shadid Scholarship Fund at Western Oklahoma State College or to the First Baptist Church Mission Fund.
